I am happy to report that little Ms. E proved yet again how courageous and brave she really is! This Saturday evening, for the very first time, Ellie gave herself her own insulin shot in her leg. She has tried to do it a few times over the last month, but never got quite enough courage to insert that sharp and pointy needle into her leg on her own, and who couldn't blame her? Even the doctor told us last week, "well, she still might be a little young for that." However, she finally got that confidence she needed and inserted the shot and injected the insulin all by herself. Woo-hoo!!!
After meeting with the doctor last week, we are hoping to get the insulin pump installed over the summer. We still have lots to learn, meetings to attend, tests to take and trial periods to maneuver through first, but I think Ellie is ready. Although the doctor said she still won't be able to eat at any time or whenever she feels like it, but she will definitely have a lot more more flexibility, and I think that will be a good thing for Ellie. Do you know how heart-wrenching it is when your daughter is begging for something to eat, yet you can't give her anything? It's very tough...
Good job, E! Mommy and Daddy are super proud of you! Every day you continue to prove what a brave and fearless little soul you are!
xoxo
